Philip McKeon


Philip-McKeon-YoungFormer child actor Philip McKeon, born on November 11, 1964, is best known for his role as Tommy Hyatt, the son of actress Linda Lavin, in the long-running CBS television series Alice (1976-1985).

Philip was born in Westbury, New York and is the son of Barbara and Donald McKeon, a travel agent. Philip’s younger sister is actress Nancy McKeon of TV’s The Fact’s of Life.

Philip’s has been acting professional since the age of four. His parents took him and sister Nancy (then 2 years old) to a local modeling audition, beginning his career as a child model. Philip began to appear in magazines, newspapers and eventually he started to get work in television commercials.

Over the next several years, Philip booked numerous modeling jobs, followed by landing roles on stage and also in films.

Linda Lavin, who was to star in the series Alice for CBS, first spotted Philip in a broadway performance and thought he was talented and recommended him for the role of her son for her new show.


Philip-McKeon-Nancy-McKeonAfter Alice ended in 1985, Philip continued to make periodic acting appearances. Some of his more recent acting credits include Sandman (1993), and Ghoulies IV (1994).

Philip has also produced and/or directed numerous films, such as Teresa’s Tattoo (1994), Murder In The First (1995), Edge of Nowhere (2003), and The Jacket (2005).
